Tornado strikes Wuhan, 41 injured, 6 missing

 


A Level 9 tornado associated with a storm front in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China left 41 people injured, and six missing after striking at 8:40 pm Friday evening, May 14.

According to Chinese media reports, the tornado struck the Caidian District of Wuhan City with wind speeds up to 23.9 meters per second. The tornado was described as having an incredible destructive power that left many houses damaged.

2 dead, 2 missing after helicopter crashes into lake in Yunnan Province

Two crew members were killed and two are missing after a helicopter crashed into a lake in Dali City, southwest China's Yunnan Province, on Monday morning, May 10, according to reports in the Chinese language press. The helicopter, with a crew of four, was engaged in fighting a forest fire when it crashed into the Erhai Lake at 10:20 am as it was attempting to draw water. Two crew members were found without vital signs at 11:40 am and 3:15 pm and were later declared dead. Around 500 search and rescue personnel and 16 boats were dispatched to search for the missing crew members.
